-
A shared
public phonebook contains recipients cell phone no, name, company, etc. The
phonebook data resides on the primary machine that has the module attached.
All users across the network will have access to the public phone book. The
private phonebook data is on the specific users machine and is only available
to that user.
-
A
standard set of preset messages can be established to for ensure further time
saving. eg. Please contact the control room as we have an emergency - Nuclear
Incorporated.
-
Within phonebooks
recipients can belong to various groups. These pre assigned groups can be
selected for bulk messaging. Alternatively by double clicking multiple
recipients a temporary group can be created achieving the same result.
-
A specific
signature ( the end of your text message ) can be created for the entire
company or individual users. By default the user log on name will be the
signature for all outgoing SMS's.
-
For priority or
marketing messages the flash option of sending an SMS can be used. This will
display the message immediately on the recipients cellular phone interface in
a scrolling action.
-
The update option
can be selected to ensure that the recipient only gets the latest information.
For example a Sales Manager needs to be updated with sales figures. New sales
figures are released every 6 hours. He was traveling for 36 hours and his
cellular phone was switched off. Once he switches his phone on and retrieves
messages only the latest figures will be available.
-
Messages
can be scheduled at various times or dates and can be set to repeat daily,
weekly, etc. Great as reminders for appointments or birthdays
-
Only once a
message has been received by the recipient an automatic confirmation is
sent back to the user that sent the original message. For example if you sent
a message to a recipient and that person was in a meeting with her cellular
phone switched off. The status of that message will remain pending until such
time as the cellular phone is switched back on. The status of the message will
now show delivered.
-
All
messages that have been sent or scheduled can be seen in a detailed log form
in the Outbox. The user will be notified of any incoming SMS's by the Inbox
lighting up green. Once again a detailed log will be created.
-
Text file
actions can be set to automate the process SMS's being sent and received. For
example a specific directory can be scanned at intervals of 10second. Once a
text or CSV file is saved in that directory in can be read and sent to the
relevant recipients.
-
Individual
users can be assigned specific privileges. A administrator can limit the
number of SMS's that can be sent per month or not allow them to delete log
entries.
Hardware
The Office Express is
independent of the Internet and telephone lines. It uses a direct connection
to a GSM Cell Phone Network via a GSM modem based module.

Connection to a computer is
by standard RS 232 (serial) cable.
The GSM sim card is inserted
in a easily accessible slot.
The module can handle up to
600 messages per hour. That is more than 400 000 per month. If a greater
output of messages is required a second or any number of extra modules can
be attached to the server. The only limitation would be the number of serial
ports that are available.
Software
The software comprises of two sections.
The "server" software is loaded on the PC that is attached to the Office Express
GSM module. This is the heart of the Office Express. One can monitor all
connections, messages & various monitored actions. The "server" software is
assigned the same IP address of the machine with the attached module.

The "client" software is loaded on every
workstation that needs to make use of the Office Express. Setup is simple by
means of pointing each client software to the IP address of the machine with the
actual module attached.
Both client & server software are very
light on resources. Network traffic is minimal as there is little bandwidth used
because of the Office Express deals with 160 characters per message
(Standard SMS).
There is no limitation on the no of users
that can connect simultaneously (no license agreements). The limitation is
purely on the network infrastructure or message volume. One can successfully
implement one Office Express with multiple clients across an entire nation via
wan.
Installation is quick and simple. The
"server" software with multiple "clients" can setup and running within minutes.
